Dr. Uzma Shahbaz is a dedicated and compassionate dentist committed to providing high-quality care for patients of all ages.

Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Uzma’s passion for dentistry and commitment to excellence brought her to the United States in pursuit of advanced education and professional growth.

Understanding that great dentistry is built on a strong foundation of knowledge, Dr. Uzma first earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Pakistan. She then completed a three-year residency in Restorative Dentistry, further honing her clinical expertise, which helped her become an expert in everyday general dentistry procedures such as root canals, crowns, bridges, as well as full mouth reconstruction.

After several years of practicing in Pakistan, Dr. Uzma moved to the U.S. and chose to continue her education at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California—further demonstrating her dedication to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

She takes pride in creating a welcoming environment where families feel comfortable and supported in their dental health journey. With a focus on comprehensive care, Dr. Shahbaz emphasizes preventive dentistry, cosmetic improvements, and restorative solutions tailored to each individual’s needs. As part of First Light Dental of Coastal VA, she is proud to serve her community alongside her husband, combining skill, compassion, and personalized care to help patients enjoy excellent oral health and renewed confidence.

Dr. Abbas believes that patient education is the key to a successful treatment outcome and patient satisfaction, with over 14 years of experience, dedicated to providing comfortable, high-quality care. He acquired training both internationally and in the United States, and completed his residency in Advanced General Dentistry at the University of Houston in Texas.

He believes patient education is the key to successful treatment and takes time to answer questions so patients feel informed and confident. Dr. Abbas uses advanced technology, including digital scanners, CBCT imaging, and surgical guides, to provide precise, minimally invasive, and virtually pain-free dental implant treatment. He is also a licensed Invisalign® provider focused on creating healthy, beautiful smiles.

Dr. Abbas is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his German Shepherd.

She provides thorough yet comfortable cleanings while also educating patients on the best ways to care for their teeth and gums at home. Her caring approach and focus on prevention make her an important part of our team’s commitment to long-term oral health.
